Best Players: ALL TEAM EFFORT
Well, as the U16 Div 5 season has officially finished for us,it is time for reflection on what we as a team have achieved during the 2010 footy season.
Starting most games with only 14 players was not going to be easy for us to win many games. but as we are the development team winning lots of games did not seem probable. Yet, we made finals.., great result boy's! We learn't about team structures, most of you understood them and put them into action on game day. I also liked the way you all conducted yourself both on and off the field. You came to training most of the time, even though we did not win much. You encouraged your team mates, you listened to your coach on most occasions and even gave me advice on what and where you wanted to play. That is confidence building, which is good to see. Most of you are a little bit fitter from all the running and chasing of the footy (please keep it up during the off season).
To finish off, it was fantastic to coach you boy's. Some for the first time, some for the last time. I really enjoyed the experience and I hope you all can take something out of season 2010 and use it in your future football endeavours. Footy, the great game we all like to play, watch and participate in.
Thank you to Team Manager Joyce Giordmaina, Assistant Team Manager Kerry Moore, Manny Karvelas (Team Runner/Organiser of U14 players/ Helper the Team Managers), Noel Sawdy Assistant Team Coach & Motivator Noel Sawdy, Team Trainer Alf Moore, Team Offical Vince Bernardi, all those who time kept, goal umpired, boundary umpired, the water boy's, the lady's who helped out in the canteen, orange and cordial helpers. A special thank you to John Mirabella (Corey’s & James’ basketball coach) who helped out for most of the season with boundary umpiring & as water person. Without your help we could not function as a team. A great job by all. If I missed anybody, feel free to approach me on presentation night and I will acknowledge you as this is also going to be my speech on the night.
I cannot finish without thanking the U14 coaches Peter McIntrye and Mark Haase for lending me their players through out the season and the parents of these players who drove from one ground to the other to help us out. All this enabled us to field a team.
Finally, a BIG THANK YOU to the following under 14 boy's who played in Div 5 Under 16's :-
Michael Fabiano, Josh Kimpton, Jeremy Shone, Sam Davoli, Mason Morello, James Mascia, Samijea Pilla, Daniel Keruish, JeanDaniel Finta, Shazaib Bhatti, Khizair Bhatti, Nathan Camilleri, Nathan Debono, Aman Guraya, Blake Muhommad, Tarik Altibasic, Chicane Liddicoat, Caleb Doherty, Jake Busuttil, Connor Russell, Raddy Ali.
From all of us, once again thank you and enjoy your football.

Round 14 - Match Day Report vs Westmeadows
25 July 2010
Taylors lakes 13.9-87 pts def Westmeadows 9.6-60 pts
Goal Kickers: T. Miokovic 3, A. Saad 2, M. Galea 2, J. Bernardi 2, D. Saad, B. Norris, N. Sposato, A. Scarpaci all 1 each.
Best Players: M. Galea, A. Sawdy, J.Bernardi, J. Karvelas, N. Sposato, J. Karipoglou but there were heaps who played well.
Boys, as I said in last week's report, if you bring your “A” game into this week against Westmeadows, we will be playing finals. You did and we won. We got the result, so we now play finals. We started the game with a few players out of their usual positions comfort zones. I knew these changes would suit this game. I knew you could play the style of game I wanted them to do. The team came out of the blocks all gun's blazing and we scored 6 goals in ¼, which was good too see. There was a little lapse of concentration and we let Westie's back into it. We played like the team I know we are capable of. Remember boys, you all have to play it out for the whole game.
Next week's game against Syd/hillside won’t be easy! Let’s all have a good week on the track, listen to instructions about the game, stick to the structures and we will have a real crack. As I said after the game, we are 20% (that's 1 in 5) chance of winning the grand final. Let’s shorten the odds and play the game of your life's this weekend and who knows from there?

Round 13 - Match Day Report vs Sydenham
18 July 2010
Taylors Lakes 2-6=18 pts lost to Sydenham/Hillside 15-14=104 pts
Goal Kickers:Theo Miokovic,Nathan Sposato both 1 each.
Best Players: Micheal Galea, Hussein Hassan, Johnny Karipoglou, Nathan Sposato.
As the score reflects we let Syd/Hillside run all over us again ,our desire, intensity for the ball was non existent and when we got the football we panicked and turned the footy over and opposition scored at ease. We now have to win the last game of normal season against Westmeadows next week to keep our slim hope of playing finals and playing finals is what we want acheive. If we are to go any futher than the first week of finals we better pick up all over the ground and bring our A game this weekend or the season will be wasted.

Round 10 - Match Day Report vs Moonee Valley
27 June 2010
Taylors Lakes 0-0=0 pts lost to Moonee Valley 30-25=205 pts
Best Players : Hussien Hasan, Nathan Sposato, all the rest battled on.
When we began the game with only 14 players, 11 which knew our structures and game plan, against a team I believe will go all the way this year and win the flag, we knew we were in trouble. But at Taylors Lakes, we carry on regardless and give it our best.
The boy's tried their best, but with so many unmanned Moonee Valley players, we were made to look pretty ordinary. When the U14's came to fill the holes, I am afraid the horse had bolted and we couldn’t register on the score board. Do not worry boy's as I can unsure you we are not that bad of a team. With 18 players on field we can match it with the rest of the competition. Keep your heads high, train your butt's off this week and come out to play next Sunday. We don’t want a repeat of last week's game.

Round 7 - Match Day Report vs Westmeadows
30-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 8.6-54 pts Def by Westmeadows 9.6-60 pts
Goal Kickers: Theo Miokovic 5, Nathan Sposato 2, Jake Bussitll 1.
Best Players: Theo Miokovic, Johnny Karipoglou, Nathan Sposato, Aaron Sawdy, Jeremy Papanastasatos.
We were under the pump from the first bounce as we only had 13, U16 players who knew our set ups, structures in defence and forward line structures. A big thank you to the U 14's – Jake, Bussitil, Connor Russell, Tyson Haase, Blake Mohamad, Shahzaib Bhatti & Mason Morello. The boys just played a game, than stepped up to fill in the holes for our team. But the boy's battled hard to go down by 6pts in a game which was of pretty good standard for Div 5, the umpires let the game play out between 2 teams eager for a win which was good to see for a change .
A couple of players approached me during week to see if a change of position was possible as they have played most of season down back, so to be far I changed the structure to see how they would go. I think they know in themselves where they are best suited now .
The last 1/4 our backline if you can describe it (it had more holes than swiss cheese) went missing as we did our forward press to lock ball in our forward line but didn't get back quick enough when a turnover occurred learn from that boy's, If it wasn't for Mason we would have been beaten by more so if you get a chance during this week training boy’s get over and thank him as I know I will.
Well done to the boy's Yesser Latiffe, Andrew Scarpaci who played there 50th games for TLFC. Noel Sawdy gave a sterling speech as always followed by our president Troy Newton to congratulate them on their achievement, and we also acknowledge Chris Said’s first game for TLFC as well too bad he blew his knew out in the first quarter, so we didn't see much of your playing style, you will bounce back mate and we will be waiting for you to come back and show us what you can do on the footy oval.
Prepare well this week boy's with positive thoughts as we take on Hadfield at their ground this week before the mid season break lets get back on the winning side of the ledger.

Round 6 - Match Day Report vs Sydenham Hillside
23-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 4-8-32 pts lost to Sydenham/Hillside 16-7-103 pts
Goal Kicker: Daniel Walachowski 4
Best Players: Daniel Walachowski, Nathan Battaglia, Josh Bernardi, James Karvelas.
What a contrast between today's game and last week's, after an encouraging first 1/4 as usual we came out ready to play and we played some good football going forward on numerous occasions and went in at 1/4 time in front. From then on we went to sleep and let the opposition run wild and made them look pretty good.
The playing group did not listen to the coaches instructions about our opponent and the way they play their football. You must remember what player you are on and be accountable for him. Keep your heads high boy's as I am sure you will all learn from today's game and we will put it behind us for now.
A big thank you to the U14's – Nathan Camilleri, Sam Davoli, Aman Guraya, Daniel Kerruish & Jeremy Shone who came to help us out again with numbers you battled hard and that's all I can ask of you

Round 5 - Match Day Report vs Roxburgh Park
16-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 19-11-125 pts def Roxburgh Park 1-2-8 pts
Goal Kickers: Nathan Battaglia, Josh Bernardi, Dom DiPasquale, Zac Giordmaina, Darren Saad all 1 goal each, Yeser Latiffe, Theo Miokovic, Nathan Sposato all 2 goals each, Andrew Scarpaci 3 goals & Toby Walters 5 goals.
Best Players: Josh Bernardi, Andrew Scarpaci, John Karipoglou, Jeremy Papanastasatos, Nathan Battaglia - to name a few.
To win a game of football by 117 pts, a lot of things have to go your way and it all starts with your attitude on game day. You all came to the ground ready to play the game of football I know you can play!
With a quiet word in a few ears before the game to let players know what I expected from them about their work rate, players took it onboard and played their best game so far. That is not taking anything away from the other boy's, as I said we are a 10 goal better team than Roxburgh Park and I wanted position 5 back on the ladder after Sunday's game.
We dominated them all over the ground and played unselfish football for the whole game. We even ran out the full 20mins of each quarter which is something that we have not been doing so far this season (must have been the rotations with a bench to keep you guy's fresh).
There was also heaps of talk during the game from you to your team mates, backing up your team mates, delivering to our forward line was fantastic to see, only a couple of lapses that I can recall but with a bit of loud voice from the bench the spot was filled and goals resulted keep a eye on that guy's it is not that hard to work out.
A big thank you to the U 14's – Rarik Alibasic, Nathan Debono & Jordan Karipoglou who came and gave us a bench, again you all did well and all got your hand on the footy which is good to see.
With our first win on the board all looks well and we can only get better as the season goes on, keep up the good work on both training nights and you will be rewarded and don't forget to enjoy your footy.

Round 4 - Match Day Report vs Oak Park
2-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 6.10-46 def. by Oak Park 9.8-61
Goal Kickers: Dom DiPasquale, James Karvelas, Theo Miokovic, Andrew Scarpaci, Nathan Sposato, James Mascia – 1 goal each.
Best Players: Hussien Hasan, Dom Di Pasquale, Josh Bernardi, Nathan Battaglia.
We all knew we had only 16 players to start the game with, but with guts and determination we managed to keep Oak Park scoreless in the first 1/4 by running & moving the ball down the corridor but we also wasted some easy shots at goal.
With no bench to work with it was up to the boy's to keep the momentum up with more running and keeping the ball in our possession but Oak Park sensed they had a chance and went in at 1/2 time with a slender lead.
Thanks to a couple of U 14's turning up to give us a hand to fill the empty pockets it was a more even contest. But I feel we used too much energy in the first half to continue. The boy's showed me they still had a chance at winning the game and with a big run from full back. The Rock (J.K) showed that he can run, bounce and deliver the footy to his team mates, Shoelaces (Spos) with a great run and chase (you nearly got him even with dodgy ankles) from full forward we were not giving in easily.
The boy's can hold there heads high, all who were at the ground know that our boys gave there all and as their coach that’s all I can ask for. Just a few thing's to work on this week as you guy's are really gelling now as a team and I am confident a win is not to far from being achieved.
A big thank you to Mason Morello, James Mascia and Tarik Ailbasic for rocking up and giving us a hand even though it was Mothers Day.

Round 3 - Match Day Report vs Moonee Valley
2nd-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 4.8-32 def. by Moonee Valley 12.11-83
Goal Kickers: Darren Saad – 2 goals, Theo Miokovic & Mason Morello – 1 goal each.
Best Players: Dom Di Pasquale, Darren Saad, Hussein Hasan ,Corey Moore & Johnny Karipoglou
Even though we lost the game, a lot of you put your hand up and played a spirited game of footy. We again moved the ball well in patches but not consistently. For the whole 4 quarters we played 20 mins a quarter but some of you stopped playing with a few minutes to go and let easy goals get scored against us or let the ball out of our forward line too easily. We took the game right up to Moonee Valley today and are starting to gel as a team.
Things we must work on are our goal kicking under pressure as we let some easy ones go by, and our marking which again let us down. There was some very good tackles laid but also some that slipped by, be mindful of these boy's as these little 1% win you game.
A big thank you for the U14's who came up to lend us a hand you not only gave me a bench to work with but you all contributed one way or another, you are welcome to join us anytime.

Round 1 - Match Day Report vs Hadfield
18 April 2010
Taylors Lakes 5-8-38 pts defeated by Hadfield 18-15-123 pts
Goal kickers:Dom DiPasquale,Mohamad Habouchi,Theo Miokovic,Darren Saad,Nathan Sposato - 1 goal each.
Best players:Corey Moore,Dom Di Pasquale,Darren Saad,Aaron Sawdy,Akash Malhotra.
Our opening game to the season was against, a bigger more intimidating team called Hadfield. But as the boy's were made aware they have 18 players & we have 18. Deny them the footy and play to and above your abilities & we will give them a good game of footy. We started well with lots of desire for the footy and moved the ball well with both hand and foot skills. It was good to watch you move the ball so quickly into the wind. We did not use the wind in the 2nd quarter and the extra player to our advantage as they had 1 sent off, alas we also had 1 sent off for swearing it will not be tolerated boy's so don't do it, we will all learn from that.
We went in at half time still in the game but Hadfield made good use of the wind and some sloppy play from us let them score with ease. We used plenty of rotations in the middle for the last quarter and some of you got lost in what to do.
Read your play book it is all there, we will work on that this week at training boy's.
It was also good to hear the parents cheering, honking their car horns when we scored or played well, keep that up it really helps the boy's.
I would also like to thank Liam, Caleb, Shahzaib & Connor from the U14's who came up a gave us hand, you all did well playing 2 games on such a hot day, you would have slept well Sunday night.
We have a week off now so attend training both nights as you all have the chance of going up to Div2 to play this week. This is something you should all try & achieve this year - playing a game in Div2.

Selection Policy U16’s
14-April-2010
Warm up together on both nights of the week.
- The 1st 16’s coach to pick squad of 22-24 players to train
(consisting of better players from previous 2nd 16’s game who wish to play in 1st 16 team).
- Remaining players to train with 2nd 16’s coach
Before the end of 2nd nights training, 1st 16’s coach to announce side for weekends game. Players not selected in team return to 2nd 16’s coach for remaining of training.
Coaches will consult on 1st nights training on who played well for following weeks selections, taking into consideration the draw & ladder positions.
If it becomes evident that 1st 16’s cannot make finals, the players that can become eligible for 2nd 16’s finals (if they can qualify) must be selected in the 2nd 16’s, as in 2005, our first year of 2 under 16 teams.
Depending on registrations each team will have min 24 players each with max 26 players each, if total registrations are higher than 48 a rotation policy will apply, as per past seasons
You have received an information sheet to fill in, with the option to choose which grade you prefer. Some players will not want to play in the 1st 16’s.
If a player isn’t selected in 1st 16’s and plays well for a few weeks, he will be given the opportunity to play in the 1st 16’s, in reverse if a player is struggling for whatever reason he should be given the opportunity to go back to 2nd 16’s & get his confidence back & work to be promoted back to 1st 16’s. This will also work for disciplinary reasons and injuries as well.
It should be the coaches’ responsibility to always push for players to play at higher level in 16’s.
This is one step away from senior football & not U10’s
This selection policy has worked well in the past and has been approved by TLFC committee for season 2010.
The committee feels this is the best way to develop our player for senior & U18 football, which only have 1 team,
Good luck to all our boys

Well guys was finally good to get onto the field for a real crack.
Our day was overall a success, in that as coaches we were able to see how all you guys played in different positions, and positions you weren't used to, and all of you played some fantastic football.
We were happy to see the enthusiasm and desire to get the ball and basically have a bit of fun with the mates that you guys are becoming.
Congrats to Doug and Azz on being our captains for the day, both for very different reasons, but both truly earned, well done boys.
To all new players into the U16's, was a bit of a baptism of fire for you I think, stepping into the unknown for the first time, you all played terrific up against some bigger bodies, no one took a backwards step which was very pleasing to see. Some of you played footy like you haven't before, taking strong pack marks and running on, taking a bounce or 2.
Guys, no one will berate you for having a go, give it your best and if we come up short, well, so be it.
Hopefully you all saw the effect of having a strong pre season can give you, how good did it feel to see your opposition slowing down,
When we were just hitting our straps, lets all get to training this week for our coming match, and have a real dip this week again boys. Lets get out on the track and work on our set ups some more, so they become second nature to you all.
Don't forget, if you are unsure about anything we are saying ask questions.
Well done
Darryl
