Round 12 - Match Report vs Airport West
11 July 2010
Taylors Lakes 5.3.34 def Airport West 4.8.32
Our Under 10 boys continued their great form for the year with a 2 point win over Airport West.
We started the game well, kicking 3 goals in the first quarter. Liam Cruz, Lucas Markham and Thomas Perry all kicked goals thanks to some great team work.
We added 1 goal into a very strong wind in the 2nd quarter and went to the main break with a 4 goal lead. We were well on top all over the ground. The backline refused to let a goal in and our forwards and midfielders were well on top.
Airport West challenged us in the 2nd half and won a lot more of the footy. Although well up at ¾ quarter time, Airport West kicked 3 goals late in the game.
Joshua Manahardt was fantastic for us in the last quarter in defence. Joshua is one of our many players who continues to improve each week and work hard at training.
Only 2 rounds left before we head into the finals. Enjoy your football and continue to work hard in the next couple of weeks.
Go Lakers!!!

Round 11 - Match Report vs Hadfield
4 July 2010
Taylors Lakes 2.3-15 def Hadfield 0.0-00
CONGRATULATIONS to the Under 10’s on recording our 8th win of the season beating Hadfield by 15 points on Sunday.
In what was a great team effort we managed to keep the opposition scoreless for the first time this year. Although only kicking 2 goals for the match we had a number of other chances, however we were unable to capitalize.
Our backline led by a very determined Nathan Merlino continued on their great form for the season. Our backline’s biggest challenge will come in the next couple of weeks against the top 2 sides.
Jack Gusman continued his great form for the season kicking another 2 goals, while Lucas Markham and Kerim Hassan won plenty of the ball around the ground.
Although the game was low scoring we were well in control and look forward to this weeks game against Airport West who beat us last time.
A very special thanks goes to Vince, Joe, Steve, John, Frank, Pari for helping develop these kids into the footballers they are. If we continue to develop these kids leading into the finals who knows what heights they might reach.

Round 10 - Match Report vs Roxburgh Park
27-June-2010
Taylors Lakes 6.3.39 def Roxburgh Park 2.2.14
Another great performance from the boys this week with a 25 point win over Roxburgh Park. Once again we started the game with plenty of run and determination and never let Roxburgh Park into the game.
In the 1st quarter Lucas Markham, Kerim Hassan and Rohan Kumar won every clearance which led to 3 first quarter goals from Lachlan Coyne, David B and Lucas Markham.
In the 2nd quarter Liam Parker, Alec Psichagios and Tristian Borg dominated around the ground. At half time we were well on top all over the ground. Both Nathan Diacono and Tomi Ibarra continue to give us plenty of targets up forward, along with Thomas Perry and Ryan Northrop who continue to play well on the wings.
In the 3rd quarter Pete Vamvakas and Jacob Caruana who moved positions came into the game and used the ball well. Roxburgh Park put through their first goal for the game, however we still led by 26 points at the last break.
In the 4th quarter Pat Gangemi went up forward and provided us with another target up forward. Kyle Lautier and Joshua Manahardt both won plenty of the ball in the backline as Jack Gusman kicked his 3rd goal for the game.
The backline continue to be very solid only allowing 2 goals in again this week. Suhail Ali, Adrian Mascia, Thomas T and Liam Cruz continue their great form for the season. Jamin Faddoul continues to improve each week as a solid defender as well.
This week David B became another one of our goalkickers when in the 1st quarter he kicked his first goal of the season. David is a great example of what players can achieve with persistence and hard work. He like many of our first year players continues to improve each week.
Next week we have Hadfield at home which is a big challenge for us. We look forward to having Nathan Merlino back into the team from his illness. We need to continue to work hard and listen to the coaches in order to keep improving.

Round 9 - Match Report vs Westmeadows
20-June-2010
Taylors Lakes 7.0.42 def Westmeadows 2.2.14
Fresh from last weeks break, this week the boys produced some of their best football for the season. Right from the opening bounce we tackled hard, chased and did all the things required to be a successful football team.
We kicked 4 goals in the first half and didn’t even let Westmeadows enter their forward line. We were well on top all over the ground. Jack Gusman, Lukas Markham and Kerim Hassan continued to dominate in the midfield while Tristian Borg and Pat Gangemi were providing us with plenty of spark in the forward line.
The second half started much the same as the first half with us adding a further 2 goals. Ryan Northrop and Thomas Perry were well on top on their wings and the backline were determined not to let Westmeadows score.
After making a number of changes at the last break we let 2 goals in, however overall it was a great team performance by all players. We have improved in the last couple of weeks and are well on our way to having an impact in the finals.

Round 8 - Match Report vs Sydenham Hillside
6-June-2010
Taylors Lakes 0.0.0 def by Sydenham/Hillside 5.5.35
This week we faced our toughest test against top of the ladder team Sydenham/Hillside.
Right from the opening bounce Sydenham/Hillside took control of the game and made it very hard for us to work the ball into our forward line.
Although only letting in 2 goals in the 1st half our backline was doing a great job stopping the dangerous Sydenham/Hillside forwards from scoring.
After half time we tried a number of changes, trying to get us back into the game. Although unable to score a goal, every player should be very proud of the way they attacked the football and player.
The last quarter Sydenham/Hillside kicked a further 2 goals to run out winners by 35 points. All players never gave up until the final siren.
For first year players to play at that standard you made all the parents and coaches very happy. Continue to work hard at training and enjoy your football.
After the break we take on Westmeadows which is a very important game for us. We look forward to having Joshua back in the team from injury.
Go Lakers!!!

The boys continued on their great form this season with a 18 point win over Glenroy at home. The win now takes us to 5 wins from 7 games.
Right from the opening bounce we took control of the game. Although only scoring 3 goals for the game, Glenroy made it very hard for our forwards to find space.
Lucas Markham, Rohan Kumar, and Ryan Northrop all kicked goals for us, thanks to some hard work from our forwards and midfield players.
Our defence was once again very solid, not letting a goal in again. Jamin Faddoul played a fantastic game once again. Jamin did all the things asked of him and continues to improve each week.
Next week we face our biggest test this season when we play top of the ladder team Sydenham. I’m sure we are up to our next challenge.

23-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 10.5.65 def Maribyrnong Park 0.1.1
In ideal football conditions on Sunday we traveled to Maribyrnong Park.
In the 1st quarter Nathan Diacono was very dangerous up forward for us while Jack Gusman and Lucas Markham gave us plenty of drive from the middle.
In the 2nd quarter we continued our good form with a number of players getting into the game. All over the ground we were in contol of the game and led by 27 points at the main break.
In the 3rd quarter we continued on with our good form kicking another 3 goals. Adrian Mascia, Tomi Ibarra, targets for us up forward, while Thomas Perry and Kyle Lautier were also getting plenty of the ball.
In the last quarter we added a further 3 goals with Liam Cruz and Pat Gangemi both kicking their first goal of the season.
Although running out 64 point winners it was a great team effort by all the boys. Every player contributed to the win.

Round 5 - Match Report vs Oak Park
16-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 0.1.1 def by Oak Park 5.5.35
This week our boys suffered their 2nd loss of the season to Oak Park at home.
We let Oak Park get off to a good start in the 1st quarter, booting 2 goals and keeping us scoreless. Although we were trying hard Oak Park used and moved the ball a lot better than we did.
In the 2nd quarter we fought hard to win the ball, Ryan Northrop and Alec Psichagios giving us plenty of run through the midfield.
In the 3rd quarter Oak Park added another goal. Jack Gusman and Tristian Borg continued their good form for the season and Suhail Ali dominated once again across half back.
In the last quarter Oak Park scored another goal to run out 34 point winners. Although beaten by a better team, I was very proud of the way you all battled hard and stayed positive.
The important thing to remember is you are all first year footballers and we are all here to enjoy and learn. If we continue to work hard at training and listen to what the coach and dads say I’m sure we will have another couple of wins.
Go Lakers!!!

Round 4 - Match Report vs Moonee Valley
9-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 3.3.21 def Moonee Valley 2.2.14
Our boys had a terrific 7 point win over Moonee Valley on Sunday. Although no goals were kicked in the 1st quarter, we worked hard in the midfield and around the ground. Suhail Ali and Liam Cruz both continued their great form in defence.
At half time we took the lead by 6 points thanks to a great goal by Jack Gusman. Pete Vamvakas gave us another target up forward this week and Pat Gangemi was playing a solid game in defence.
In the 3rd quarter we failed to kick a goal and let Moonee Valley back in the game with a late goal. Although scores were level going into the last break the boys were still playing a far better style of footy with little reward.
In the last quarter Kerim Hasan got well on top in the ruck, Lachlan Coyne and Thomas Perry were well on top in the forward line and both Rohan Kumar and Lucas Markham kicked team lifting goals helping us to a 7 point win.
It was a great team effort by all players. Our next game is against Oak Park at home. We have to continue to improve to ensure we have another win.
Go Lakers!!!

Round 3 - Match Report vs Airport West
1-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 1.5.11 def. by Airport West 2.8.20
Our boys experienced there first defeat of the season losing to Airport West by 9 points. Airport West led for most of the match, our highlight of the 1st half coming from a team lifting goal from Lucas Markham.
Although up by 1 point at half time and Kerim Hassan and Tristan Borg winning plenty of the ball for us, our players were finding it hard to keep up with the run of Airport West.
We tried hard to stay in front however Airport West continued to run and use the football far better than we did after half time. Suhail Ali and Thomas Perry continued to win plenty of the ball for us
The loss of Tristan Borg and Adrian Mascia in the 3rd quarter made things very difficult for us, along with missing a number of chances to add to our score. In the last quarter Airport West took control of the game making it very difficult for us to even enter our 50 metre zone. Although we lost the game a number of positives came out of it.
Next week we face another challenge against Moonee Valley away. The boys will need to lift if they want to be competive again. I am sure they are up to the challenge.

Round 2 - Match Report
25-April-2010
Taylors Lakes 5.4.34 def Hadfield 1.3.9
The boys continued their great start to the season with a 25 point win over Hadfield on Sunday. Straight from the opening bounce the boys made their intent clear by moving the ball long and direct scoring three goals in the opening term. Goals to Lachlan Coyne, Jack Gusman and Nathan Diacono in the 1st quarter were providing the Hadfield defence with plenty of headaches. Ryan Nothrop and Thomas Perry were winning plenty of the ball around the ground while Kyle Lautier provided us with another target up forward.
Hadfield kicked a goal early in the 2nd quarter, however Lucas Markham, Rohan Kumar and Jack Gusman continued to win plenty of the ball in the midfield while Tristian Borg, Pat Gangemi and Kerim Hasan were providing plenty of spark up forward.
Liam Cruz, Suhail Ali and Jacob Caruana continued their great form in defence not allowing the Hadfield forwards any room to move.
We continued to work hard after halftime and added a further goal in the 3rd quarter. Alec Psichogios continued his good ball use and Pete Vamvakas was working hard in defence. Joshua Manahardt was also getting plenty of the ball on the wing.
While at ¾ quarter time we were well on top of Hadfield, the boys ran out the last quarter well with a great team goal from Tomi Ibarra.
Liam Parker added some extra spark to our forward line while Nathan Merlino and David Brancatisano made solid contributions to the team.
Our next game against Airport West next Sunday will be another big challenge but we will welcome back defender’s Adrian Mascia, Jamin Faddoul and forward Nicholas Ioannou to the team.
Continue to work hard at training and the rewards will come!!!
