Proud is the only way I can describe the boy’s over the past 14 rounds and 2 finals, in the end we just ran out of steam, injuries and illness finally getting the better of us.
The Airport West game obviously took a lot out of the boy’s it was a tough game to say the least. We all know that there is only so much Tristan, Emanuel, Max, Jake, Blake and Lucas can do in the middle to try and win the ball unfortunately the team was beaten by a better opposition on Sunday.
The opposition continuously found players running loose, we never manned up and made ourselves accountable. Daniel proved one thing give everything that eventually you will succeed, his run down tackle after the opponent had taken 4 bounces was an example of persistence and then his goal line touch to restrict the opposition to a point was remarkable considering he was playing at Centre Half Forward.
Max Hobbs should be given the Purple Heart for bravery for his outstanding finals campaign the boy had spent an entire week in hospital before Sunday’s game.
I said to my Son Thomas after the game that if you run, run, run you will be a better player, replicate what Tristan, Max, Daniel and co do, he understands that and when we got home after the game he spent two hours in the backyard practicing, now that would make any parent proud.
Ryan Braun had an outstanding game at Half Back he was definitely Best on Ground this week and is one player that has continued to improve as the year has gone on. Blake in the ruck, not the greatest position to play but definitely the toughest, what a magnificent performance from a magnificent kid he followed every instruction that was given to him. Cameron Spunner was definitely the best Half Bank Flanker in the competition nothing more to say. I cannot name everyone but I will end by saying that if every player follows the same work and leadership ethic that Emanuel shows week in week out then each and every player will succeed I take my hat off to Emanuel for being a great leader to this team and especially a great person.
I thank each and every player for their determination to succeed this year, this team lost every game last year, in 2010 they won 10 finished 3rd took Airport West (who are in the Grand Final) to extra time in the Qualifying Final and played two finals, what a magnificent performance, one of only four junior sides to make finals at Taylors Lakes.

Taylors Lakes 2-3-15 defeated by Airport West 4-4-28
Best Players THE TEAM
Goal Kickers E. Chrisoulis 1, T Rudic 1
We might have lost the game but the 21 players who came out to play on Sunday produced one of the best team performances I have ever seen or coached. We weren’t beaten by a better team on Sunday we just ran out of steam. We ended up with all our players on the bench injured, the players on the field just tried to hang in the game for as long as they could. Taking a quality side like Airport West into extra time was a credit to our player’s determination to never give up.
The midfield lead by our magnificent leader Emanuel were simply brilliant, I have never seen a better performance from Tristan, Max, Lucas, Nathan, Daniel, Jake, Blake, Corey and Emanuel, we smashed Airport West in the clearances.
The defence lead by Alec at Full Back, Lachlan, Cameron, Thomas and Peter G were outstanding, they never gave up, the ball was not going to get through the goal without a fight.
The Forward Line with Michael leading the way and no doubt having his best game of the season, Reece, PJ, Thomas R, Jesse, Bailey (on one leg) and Ryan were fantastic in keeping the ball in the fifty giving us numerous opportunities to score.
Sunday we took a massive step forward, next Sunday we have Maribyrnong Park another tough opponent, we will work on Fitness, running back to man up and being first at the ball.
The team were inspiring on Sunday they definitely proved one thing and that is you never give up the fight until the fight is over.

The final game of the home and away season proved to be one of our best. The boys were simply brilliant from the first bounce to the final siren.
Congratulations to the team for their fantastic performance this season they have worked very hard to be at a point where they are now playing finals.
Special mention to Cameron not for his performance on the ground (which was excellent again) but for his comment at the half time break when he said to his teammate that he will help him out in the backline, that’s the meaning of teamwork.
I would also like to thank everyone involved in helping on training nights and game day without your assistance the team wouldn’t be where it is today.
First Final vs Airport West: We have to train hard this week and be ready for a very good side.

Round 13 - Match Report vs Moonee Valley
18th July 2010
Taylors Lakes 1-4-10 defeated Moonee Valley 0-6-06
Goal Kickers E Chrisoulis 1
Best Players L Spiteri, A Moretta, T Rapa, T Chitsos, R Asciak, E Chrisoulis
We had it all to play for yesterday third spot on the ladder was ours for the taking. After a nervous first quarter the boy’s were able to step up a gear and dominate the remaining three quarters. With other results going our way all we have to do this week is win and we will finish third.
Looking at the game on Sunday the boys still need to ensure that they hold their positions, we had a few players who moved out of position to often which caused too many packs to form and in turn keeping the ball in one area for long periods of time. If it wasn’t for some luck in the last two minutes the game could have went the opposition’s way.
When the game was there to be won in the first quarter by Moonee Valley the defence headed by Nathan and Cameron who was brilliant all day stood up and made sure that every shot at goal was made under pressure. It was a tough first quarter made tougher by the fact that we had Tristan, Max, Emanuel, Daniel, Lucas and Jake on the bench it meant that the players on the ground had to stand up and they did.
The important thing is we are a team a team that sticks together a team that never gives up the fight until the fight is over. When the siren went yesterday the relief in the boy’s faces was one enjoyment and satisfaction, the fact that they are playing finals is a testament to their character, they never gave up yesterday.
Special mention to Reece for his great effort in the first quarter in the midfield, Kelvin for taking a great grab in the final term (Marks need to be taken and Kelvin proved that if you put your body underneath the ball you will take the mark every time) and Thomas R who had five kicks for the game, great effort guys. Let’s not forget the play that changed the game, Lucas’s tackle on the big number 21 for Moonee Valley was inspiring the team lifted another gear after that magnificent tackle.

Round 12 - Match Report vs Airport West
11th July 2010
Taylors Lakes 1-7-13 defeated by Airport West 7-5-47
Goal Kicker Chrisoulis
Best Players D. Bodilly, H. Singh, R. Braun, M. Falzon, L. Pullia, M. Hobbs
On Sunday the boy’s were beaten by a very good side a side that played the ball to their advantage on all occasions. The opponent were strong with their long kicks and their hard running, it was a credit to our boy’s that for three quarters were able to stay with the opposition until the final quarter when they were able to break away and score freely.
Airport West are a formidable opponent and were able to switch the ball from one end to the other without being harassed or tackled by our boy’s.
The boys endeavour on Sunday was excellent however we lacked aggression for the ball, at times it seemed we were being outnumbered three to one. If it wasn’t for the efforts of a handful of players, Tristan, Daniel, Lucas to name a few most likely the game would have been over by half time. The defence stood up for as long as they could, special mention to Cameron, Nathan, Ryan, Michael, Lachlan, Peter G and company who stood strong in the back line for the three quarters, we just ran out of steam in the last quarter.
We need to man up, create the space work the ball to the centre rather than the pockets and most of all we need to back up our team mate.
Also, a special mention to Max who played a fantastic game, remember Max was on crutches from Sunday to Wednesday and in hospital with a viral infection on Friday, that is very special we should all stand up and applaud his effort, he didn’t just make it to the game on Sunday to watch he came and played three and half quarters, outstanding effort.
Two more games before finals, to finish third we must win both of them and hope that other results fall our way.
Train hard, play harder!!!

Round 11 - Match Report vs Roxburgh Park
4th July 2010
Taylors Lakes 4-3-27 defeated Roxburgh Park 2-0-12
Goal Kickers Rudic 2, Chitsos 1, Chrisoulis 1
Best Players M Hobbs, C Giddings, P Bailey, L Spiteri, E Chrisolus, L Pullia
Sunday we met two tough opponents Roxburgh Park U10’s and their fans but to the boys credit they stuck to the task followed the game plan and in the end came away with a stirring victory.
We moved a few players around this week which could of easily have backfired on us but to the boys credit they stuck to the plan and ran away with the game in the last quarter.
The game however ended on a sour note when Max Hobbs who was having an outstanding game injured his knee early in the last quarter. We wish Max a speedy recovery hopefully he won’t be out for too long.
We had an even contribution from all players’ right across the ground which was great to see. We also had another contender for goal of the year from Thomas C who sent a massive torpedo straight through the big sticks.
Special mention to Reece for his leading out of the forward line, Corey for taking the ruck on his own after Blake went down with an injury and Thomas R and Kelvin for holding their positions and presenting themselves in the forward line, great effort guys.
Next week we have Airport West!!

Round 10 - Match Report vs Hadfield
27th-June-2010
A very disappointing performance from the boys on Sunday, flat is the only way to describe our effort on the ground.
Players were continuously moving out of position and allowing the opposition to counterattack and place our defenders under huge pressure. We need to man up at all times we cannot allow the opposition to run free. It was difficult to find five good players in Sunday’s game, apart from a couple of stand outs the rest of the team were very stationery. We seemed to be second at the ball which obviously was the reason why we only had one free kick awarded to us on the day.
We are a side capable of beating anyone on our day we need 18 contributors on the ground each week.
This week’s training is going to be the hardest you have ever been involved in, plenty of ball handling, running, man on man drills, kicking to space and tackling. I need to have everyone focused and concentrating from now until the end of the season and finals. If we play our cards right and play hard and tough we can still finish third.
Our next game is against Roxburgh Park, the last time we met them was back in round 2, it was a very close game so we will need to be on the ball from the first bounce.

Round 9 - Match Report vs Avondale Heights
20th-June-2010
Taylors Lakes 6.9-45 defeated Avondale Heights 0-1-1

Best Players: Rudic, Razborsek, Falzon, Hazik, Asciak, Giddings
A strong team effort enabled another strong win.
This week we changed the side around to gain additional experience in new positions and this highlighted what your stongest positions were.
We need to keep the more moving quickly and look for open players. Don't kick the ball into a pack situation as we are much more succesful when kicking to players in the open. It is this reason why it is important to hold our positions accross the ground.
Remember its a TEAM GAME and everybody plays an important role.
We will continue to work building walls accross the ground to lck the ball into our forward line. An open forward will enable us to kick winning scores more easily and restruct the opposition on the counteract as we are ready and waiting to re-bound the ball.
Remember to encourage your team mates and DON’T CRITCISE in a game or at training.
This week we play Hadfield at home and this will be a difficult game as they have improved a lot since Round 1.
Go Lakers!!!

Round 7 - Match Report vs Sydenham Hillside
30th-May-2010
Taylors Lakes 0.1-1 defeated by Sydenham Hillside 6.6-42
Goal kickers: Nil
Best Players: Bodilly, Van Viersen, Georgostathis, Spunner, Sculli, Braun
Today we played a very tough opponent whilst we attacked the ball with our normal aggression our teamwork was not as strong as normal and we were outplayed by the opposition.
They played an aggressive brand of football switching to their Coach’s Box side to numerous lose players on many occasions and were able to form a wall in the forward and back lines which we found difficult to penetrate.
Our ball movement was slower than normal and we did not seem to be as accountable for our opponents this week.
We need to ensure that we continue to encourage and support each other during the game and at training as we are a good strong team when everybody works together.
This week we play Avondale Heights and we will need to be focused and committed to ensure that we come away with a WIN. Don’t be fooled by our pre-season game they will be full of confidence from their 1st win of the season last week.
It will also be Max Hobbs 50th Game a wonderful achievement so boys don’t let him down in this milestone game. Max will be our Captain for this game.
Lets all train well this week in preparation for this big game.

Fantastic Team Effort best describes last weeks performance.
Every single player made a contribution with your attack on the ball unrelenting support of your team mates by shepparding and blocking your opponents from the ball. When they had possession of the ball you tackled and chased them down limiting their run.
You all played well and stayed in your positions being accountable for your opponents. This is why the opposition never kick large scores against us.
This was inspirational to watch from the sidelines. It is these aspects of your game that really drive your success.
You should be proud of your achievements so far. Lets get to training this week and train well together as a team encouraging everybody.
This week we have another huge challenge up against the undefeated Sydenham Hillside. I have every confidence that you will perform well.

Best Players: Ruidic, Younan, Vardon, Asciak, Razborsek, Chitsos
Tough, hard and sometimes frustrating is how I describe the game on Sunday. The good thing is the boys didn’t play at their best but still were able to win the game.
Daniel, Jake and co kept the boys in the contest at all times. The opposition broke on the counterattack on numerous occasions but once again our defence lead by Peter and Nathan held firm to restrict the opposition to just three scoring shots.
The third quarter proved to be our toughest test, the opposition attacked on numerous occasions.
Special mention to Tristan his game on Sunday was outstanding his attack on the ball and hard work around the packs was the highlight of the day he basically kept us in the contest.
Over the next three weeks Peter and Rodney will be looking after the team as I will be away on business and the personal holiday. We have two of the top four teams waiting to play us in these weeks, lets train hard and play smart listen to what Peter and Rodney tell you on training nights and game day. Play with your heart and always make the right decision if you do these two simple things then you will be playing finals football. You should all be proud of your efforts so far and so should your parents you have exceeded all expectations but it now it’s time to take it to the next level, we want to be the best, we want to learn, we want to be hard at the ball and most of all we want to have fun.
Good Luck and I will see you all soon for a massive second half of the season!!!

Best Players: Bailey, Sculli, Dean, Pullia, Hazik, Hobbs
A huge win on Sunday for the boys, the pressure the boys put on the opposition was great to watch especially in the second and third quarters where we completely dominated the game.
A complete performance from the entire team especially Phillip, Reece, Thomas R, Jesse, Michael, Lachlan, Calvin and Nathan who stood up when we needed them the most, they were simply brilliant.
The goal and play of the day or maybe even the season set up the big win, from coast to coast the opposition did not get a touch with the final touch from Phillip who put the ball through the big sticks. Huge pat on the back to Max after hitting the pack and winning the ball passed it to Jake who ran the entire wing to set up a great goal, the crowd went crazy.
Congratulations to Jesse on kicking his first goal of the season.
The midfield headed by Emanuel along with Max, Jake, Lucas, Corey, Blake, Tristan, Thomas and Alec should hold their heads up high as they were at it from the beginning to the end, they never gave up.

Round 3- Match Report – Airport West
2nd May 2010
Airport West 3.3-21 Defeated Taylors Lakes 1.1-7
Goal Kickers D. Bodilly 1
Best Players B. Lawson, R. Braun, J.Dean, P.Georgostathis, N Van Viersen, L Spiteri
Round 3 vs. Airport West was a bruising contest from start to finish.
The game was played at a very high level the intensity was there from the first bounce right through to the final siren. The backline once again stood up to the oppositions attack and on numerous occasions were able to rebound the ball back out from the defence to the forward line giving our midfield and forwards the opportunity to score.
The boys should be very proud of their efforts considering that Airport West will most likely finish in the top four at season’s end.
Special mention to Ryan Braun for his great tagging role on the oppositions number 17. The number 17 who hurt us considerably in the first half was kept to just a few possessions in the second half.
With a couple of players being injured during the match with Lucas out Jake feeling sick on the day and a couple of others being down on form we will no doubt be better prepared for them the next time we meet.
I think all Parents and Coaching staff should be very proud of the boy’s efforts over the first three rounds.

Round 2 - Match Report - Roxburgh Park
Taylors Lakes 2.4.16 def Roxburgh Park 1.2.8
Goal kickers: Chrisoulis 1 Bodilly 1
Best Players: Georgostathis, Falzon, Spunner, Bodilly, Van Viersen, Lawson
Round 2 vs. Roxburgh Park proved to be our toughest test yet, the opposition who were very strong overhead took an early lead it wasn’t until the second quarter that the Lakers scored their first goal. The game was tough from beginning to end, one positive was the boys did not play well but still came away with a win. We need to work hard on being first at the ball and to support each other at all times.
The second half was not for the faint hearted as both teams attacked without success, the last quarter was the toughest of all four, Roxburgh Park peppered the goals for five minutes but if it wasn’t for the heroics of Peter (10) taking two big marks and clearing the ball out of the fifty the boys would most likely have lost the game. Peter was clearly the best player in the second half.
Special mention goes to Michael for an outstanding game as Captain, the defence who stood tall when the pressure was on and the midfields hard running around the ground.
Captain: Michael
Vice Captain: Lachlan
Next week we have a massive test – Airport West away.
Round 1 - Match Report - Hadfield
18th April 2010
Hadfield 0.0-00 vs Taylors Lakes 5.4-34
What a great start to the season the boys were simply outstanding for four quarters beating Hadfield by 34 points.
The game produced a great team effort from all and some brilliant individual efforts starting from Michaels attack on the ball in the backline to put the ball back into our forward line to Alec’s work on the defensive side of the wing that produced a goal, the entire defence holding down their positions and the forward line leading on every occasion.
Special mention to Kelvin who played his first game with us, Jason for holding his position and being first at the ball, Corey and Blake’s brilliant work in the Ruck, Lucas moving into the centre for the first time and completely dominating and the midfields tireless work around the ground.
Mark of the Day: Daniel (On the wing)
Goal of the Day: Jake (Played on from a mark)
Play of the Day: A tie – Alec on the wing to create a goal and Daniel, Emanuel and Tristan’s hard work to win the ball back on the wing in the third quarter.
Round 2 we finally get to play on our home ground.
Go Lakers!!!
