End of Season Presentations
Congratulations to the 2009 recipients of team awards:
JUNIOR FINAL
24/08/2009
Taylors Lakes (4.9-33) def, by Hadfield (6.8-44)
On behalf of the coaches, managers, parents and especially the players of the Under 14 Div 5 grand finalists, we just want to say how proud were of the attendance by the "Lakers Army" at our grand final challenge. Although we fell short it was comforting for us to look around at the sea of blue and gold. I guess thats why we are the family club this title is well deserved.
To our president Claude and all the senior commitee, to the seniors, especially Sharky, Benny and Burnsy for their help, and to all the peole who came up to us and sincerely wished us well we know we didn't let you down because the Lakers spirit is strong and judging by the group of juniors coming through it will definetly get stronger.
So once again thanks and what a year next years going to be.
Kindest regards
Noel Sawdy and Bill Wood

Aaron Sawdy also celebrated his 100th game and the team produced a solid and proud four quarter effort that was not enough to overcome Hadfield in trying winding conditions.

PRELIMINARY FINAL WIN!
9/08/2009
Taylors Lakes (4.3-27) def. Sydenham/Hillside (2.5-17)
Goal Kickers: T.Walters 2,K.Bhatti,Z.Giordmaina both 1 each.
Best Players: M.Fabiano, C.Moore, Z.Giordmaina, T.Walters, J.Karvelas
Arriving at a wet and raining Hadfield Oval both Noel and myself knew that we would be suited by these conditions and we became more positive we could cause an upset. I explained to the boy's that Sydenham were the ladder leaders going into game and that they had more pressure to win than us and if we played our "A" game we would be playing in the Grand Final next week.
We got to go into the wind in the first quarter and held our own, the second 1/4 the boy's lifted a gear or two and we won a lot of the contested ball as our desire for the footy from our small brigade was more intense than Sydenham's.
The boy's really lifted in the second 1/2 and we went on to win by 10 pts and into the Grand Final next week against Hadfield, if we continue to play as a team like we did today and put behind us the last game we played against Hadfield and we can definitely go all the way, just remember to go for the footy, be first at the footy, put your head over the footy back yourself to get the footy and trust your team mates. You should all be proud of your selves today as you all put in.
Training this week will be just like all the other training sessions so attend both nights come focussed and alert, listen to Noel and Bill ask questions if you are not sure so we are all on the same page come Sunday's big day...
GO LAKERS ......

ROUND 2 of FINAL on 9/08/2009
10/08/2009
Taylors Lakes (13.11-89) def. Roxburgh Park (1.4-10)
Goal Kickers:T.Walters 6,C.Kilbane 3,M.Perija ,A.Sawdy ,A.Singh, L.Watson all 1 each.
Best Players: T.Walters, C.Kilbane, C.Moore, Z.Giordmaina, L.Watson, M.Perija.
Well ,what a contrast to last week's game, today we had no passagers, we put our heads over the ball, we had more desire for the footy, we went in harder at the footy and we went on to win quite comfortably.
Today we came to play and play like the team both Noel and myself know, when we play our "A" game we can beat any opposition and as all final's are knock out from now on we can not relax from here on. So be at training both nights and be switched on and who know's were we can finish!
The whole team put in a great effort today and you were rewarded with a good win but let's not rest on today's game and focus on next weeks game because as I have said "Preliminary Final's are the hardest to win ".
We played Sydenham/Hillside a couple of weeks ago and won a great game but next week's game will be a challenge if we are not on the ball from the first bounce ,so listen to myself and to Noel and we as a team will go on to play another game .
GO LAKERS....
